to any coating, prep work is the key, and  what you use under & over the the camo print. For a good and proper weatherized, durable camo finish. Every part goes through a chemical de-greasing wash then threw a 95 degree hot water bath. This removes all unwanted gun oils, powder resiude from all parts. The parts are dryed under heat lamps. Metal parts are masked off for protecting the areas NOT to be re-finished in camo. Metal parts are media blasted with 120 gr. Alumi Oxide, plastic parts as of stocks, forearms & etc. will be media blasted in another cabinet blast with #8 glass beads at a low air pressure.. "WE DO NOT SCUFF or SAND your METAL or PLASTIC PARTS" This doesnt give a good clean solid workable surface. We dont trust anyones finish under ours whether its factory or after-market finishes. We dont use the typical water transfer printing coatings, we like high performance coating. All coatings we used are 2 stage catalyzed coatings, primers(match to the substrate) some firearms will have up to 3 different primers. WE DO NOT use a universal primer for all substrates, the base and finish are 2 stage catalyzed also. We believe that any coating with cross-linkers / hardeners will be a good weatherized duriable coating system.
Our clear flat finish coating is made for our shop "only" and no one in the hydrographic printing industry has access to this product (I own the rights to it). This clear finish has an extreme resistance to the harshest bore solvents gun cleaners and scrubbers on the market, it is even resistant to "Gum Out Carburetor Cleaner, Brake Kleen, PB BLaster, Gun Scrubber, & Gunk Engine Brite”. Our clears are baked on with Infrared heaters for maxium durability & hardeness.

Clear Finishes Offered or the Hydrographic Camo, Our Custom Dead Flat Clear, Creakote Mirco Low Gloss Clear, Automotive Satin Finish.

depends on what you want & how much you want done. Theirs alot of want-a-be's processors out their that are self taught & with cheap or homemade equipment, or doing firearms illegal. Any business conducting a decorating, ingraving, or any coating to the extrerior of a firearm (whole firearm or receiver) w/o a FFL License classifcation of a 01,03,or 07 is doing this illegally & commiting a felony.

The liget shops are full time that are fully insured (libility, fire, theft,) with all the correct documents (FFL) to conduct in the firearm coatings. You will have some illegal shops  will tell you "You do not need a FFL, or ship it to a gun shop & I'll pick it up, or long as it is in pieces I can work on it". All of these statement are false. AFT states in bold statement  "ANY BUSINESS conducting camoflauging, dipping, ingraving, or solid color coatings on the extreior of a firearm" must have a FFL in 01, 03, or 07. You can not work off another business or persons FFL. Its all about the owners name, TAX I. D. # and location address.

Last year AFT raided 25 hydrographic dipping shops and closed them down do to with out having a FFL, owners of the firearms in those shops their firearms were seized and the owners lost them do to federal evidence. Those seized weapons are distroyed by AFT and the owners are out of their firearms. . AFT looks at this as a mistake of the owners of the firearms, not researching what shop/business's hold a FFL or legally to work (camoflauge or coat the outside of their firearm. This statement is totally true. All I can say is check and ask for proof of FFL.
